Description

The Village Hall and Hall Farm House Forecourt is a former orangery from the late 18th century, later converted into a farmhouse. It is constructed of gault brick and stucco, topped with a concrete smut tile roof. The building features a double pile design with 20th-century additions on both the east and west sides.

The facade of the Village Hall, facing south, consists of five bays adorned with Ionic pilasters, a plain timber cornice, and an entablature. Between the pilasters are 20th-century sash windows that have glazing bars and semi-circular heads, each with keyblocks shaped like masks. The central entrance has been modified to include 20th-century doors with a fanlight featuring glazing bars. To the south of the hall, there is a shallow stone-paved area that is said to have been a skating rink.

The northern section of the building serves as the farmhouse for the Model Farm. Its north elevation has three windows and an off-center entrance door, along with large three and four-light casement windows set in reveals with segmental arched recesses. There is also an inserted flush panelled door with a fanlight that has glazing bars. One of the windows on the right displays 'Gothick' tracery, while the first floor features two-light casements. The building has corbelled brick eaves, hipped roofs, and a central valley stack. This structure is included for its group value with Catton Hall.
