Description
No. 30A is a shop with accommodation above, dating from around 1800, with a shop front added around 1870. The building features limestone ashlar on the front, left side, and rear, and has a hipped parapeted roof covered with double Roman tiles. An ashlar stack is located at the apex of the roof at the front, and a smaller ashlar stack with an early clay pot rises from the wall at the rear right.
The exterior is two stories high with a three-window front. On the first floor, there are three six-over-six sash windows set in plain reveals, with stone sills supported by console brackets and wrought iron balconettes. The ground floor has a timber shop front with a two-pane plate glass window, smaller panes above a timber stall riser, and a door to the left featuring two moulded panels and an overlight for the upper floor. To the right, there is a similar half-glazed door leading to the shop. Four pilasters flank the doors and support an entablature above, which includes a frieze, a moulded eaves cornice, and a coped parapet.
The right side of the building has two windows similar to those on the first floor front, located on both the ground and first floors. The design includes a plinth, a band course above the ground floor, a frieze, a cornice, and a parapet that continues from the front. The rear elevation is not visible. The interior has not been inspected. Additionally, there is a short length of railings with a handrail attached to the right of the door.
