Description

This is an early 18th century shop with living accommodation above, with a shop front dating from the mid to late 19th century. The front is constructed of limestone ashlar, now painted, with painted rubble at the rear. The roof is hipped, with parapets to the front and sides, and includes double and triple Roman style windows. Ashlar stacks with early clay pots rise from the side walls and rear.

The building has a two-window facade. The first floor has two two-over-two sashed windows set in plain reveals, with stone sills supported by console brackets with wrought iron balconettes. The second floor has similar windows without the balconettes. The ground floor features a timber shop front with two plate glass windows, a timber mullion, and a pair of half-glazed doors leading to the upper floors. The shop front includes a door with an overlight, flanked by four pilasters with heavy carved console brackets and anthemion carved decorations above a frieze topped with a modillion cornice. A band course runs above the first floor. The rear elevation has plate glass sashes to the second floor. The interior remains unexamined. Attached to the right is a 19th century cast iron railing with a cast iron pier.
