Description

This is a house, built around 1760-1770, with a raised two-story addition from the 19th century. The front is limestone ashlar, painted on the basement, ground floor, and first floor, while the rear is a mix of ashlar and rubble. It has a hipped, parapeted roof with double Roman tiles to the front and left side, and two ashlar chimneys with early clay pots rising from the right side and rear walls.

The house is of a deep plan situated on a narrow site. The front elevation is four storeys high with a basement, and has a two-window façade. The first floor has two plate glass sash windows with horn detailing, in plain reveals, a continuous stone sill, and a wrought iron balconette. The second and third floors each have two similar sash windows without balconettes. The ground floor has a matching sash window in a splayed reveal with a stone sill, and a five-panel door with a fanlight set within a round-headed, flat surround. Four pennant stone steps lead to a crossover, which has a 19th-century cast iron footscraper. The basement has a plate glass sash window in a plain reveal with a splayed lintel, a 20th-century plank door beneath the crossover, and pennant stone steps. A bracketed former eaves cornice sits above the first floor, while a moulded eave cornice and coped parapet cap the building. The partially visible rear elevation also features plate glass sash windows. The interior has not been inspected.

Attached to the front are wrought iron railings and a gate with shaped heads on painted bases. The railings have group value.
