Description
Prospect Cottage is a detached terrace house dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of limestone ashlar and features a double Roman tile roof. The house has a double depth narrow frontage with a central valley.
The exterior consists of two floors and one window. The large twenty-pane sash window is located above a sixteen-pane window, both set in a slightly stepped forward central bay and topped with a segmental head, flush surround, and keystone. To the right of the windows is a flush four-panel door beneath a plain fanlight, accessed by one step, while to the left is a corresponding blind arched recess. The building includes a listel, frieze, cornice, blocking course, and parapet. The left return is plain, featuring coped parapets and a tall two-stage front stack, with the rear stack having been cropped. The front roof is hipped to the right.
The interior has not been inspected. Prospect Cottage is a modest survivor located at the rear of grand houses on New King Street.
