Description

This is a group of two pairs of houses located on the south side of North Road, Combe Down/Williamstowe. Built in the mid-19th century as a single block, Nos. 146 and 148 share original tiles and are slightly elevated compared to Nos. 150 and 152. The buildings are set back from the adjacent property, No. 144.

The exterior is limestone ashlar with double Roman or concrete tile roofs. Nos. 146 and 148 have three windows per floor, with plain replacement sash windows set within a sill band, featuring weatherings above the openings. The paired doorways, offset to the right, have four-panel doors and are sheltered by a common slab hood with a cavetto edge, supported by three brackets. Coped gables feature ashlar stacks with semicircular cappings. Nos. 150 and 152, with concrete tiles, have a two-window and a two-window arrangement on each floor, using plain sash windows aligned with a similar sill band that slopes down from the adjacent pair. Their paired doorways have panelled and part-glazed doors, each with a separate slab hood featuring a cavetto edge, supported by brackets. The gables of Nos. 150 and 152 are coped, with ashlar stacks, and a plain return to the left. The interior of the properties has not been inspected.
