Description
No. 149 Church Road is a detached villa built in the mid-19th century. It is constructed from limestone ashlar and features a slate roof. The building has a compact block shape with a low-pitched roof and deep flat bracketed eaves.
The exterior is two storeys high and symmetrical, with three windows that have plain sashes set in architraves. These windows are topped with a cornice and sit on moulded sills with consoles on the first floor. The ground floor has later canted stone bays with sash windows, and a central sash window has replaced a former doorway. There is a plain eaves band, and ashlar stacks are located at each end of the building, with another stack at the rear.
On the left side, there is a 20th-century conservatory below a twelve-pane sash window, while the right side features a twelve-pane window above a square porch. This porch has reeded pilasters, a deep architrave, a cornice, and a blocking. The interior has not been inspected. This villa is part of a series of villas along the north side of Church Road, offering fine panoramic views to the south.
