Description
Erin Cottage is a detached house built in the mid-19th century. It is constructed from limestone ashlar and features a slate roof. The house has a modest symmetrical gabled design with an extended single bay on the right side.
The exterior consists of two storeys with a total of four windows on the first floor and one window on the ground floor, all of which are four-pane sash windows. These windows are set above a plain sill band, and there is a blind light above the door, which is accessed through a gabled glazed porch that is likely from the same period or slightly later. The extended bay mirrors the original design and includes an early lean-to conservatory. The original section of the house has coped gables, each topped with an ashlar stack, and the returns are plain.
The interior has not been inspected. Externally, Erin Cottage has seen little alteration and retains its original configuration, representing the modest yet well-built properties in the area that reflect the late Georgian architectural tradition into the mid-19th century.
