Description
Scott House is a detached house located on Church Road in Combe Down, dating from the mid to late 19th century. It is constructed of limestone ashlar and features a Welsh slate roof. The house is designed as a formal detached villa with a central entrance.
The exterior consists of two storeys and three bays, with banded rustication on the ground floor. A central Ionic porch leads to a partially glazed door, flanked by two two-over-two sash windows set in plain reveals. A string course runs along the first floor, which has three additional windows, also with two-over-two sashes, each featuring a moulded architrave, cornice, and sill brackets. The roof has deep eaves supported by timber modillions and is hipped, with two tall ashlar chimney stacks, one of which has pots. The side elevations are plain, and there is an additional stack at the rear, although the rear elevation has not been seen.
Scott House is part of a row of similar villas along Church Road, all of which benefit from panoramic views to the south. The interior has not been inspected.
