Description

52 Tarrant Street is a mid-19th century building constructed of red brick with grey brick headers arranged in recessed panels. It features a pitched slate roof and red brick chimneys. The building stands three storeys tall with a semi-basement. At the eaves level, there are two brick modillion cornices, one above the other.

On the second floor, there are two double-hung sash windows with glazing bars. The first floor has one tripartite double-hung sash window with glazing bars, which is flanked by semi-circular panels of grey brick headers. The ground floor includes one double-hung sash window with glazing bars, and there is a two-panelled door with moulding and a semi-circular fanlight above it, set in a plain reveal and surrounded by a concentric brick relieving arch. Additionally, there is one double-hung sash window with glazing bars in the semi-basement.

Access to the door is via five ashlar steps, which are flanked by brick walls with ashlar coping. The area is enclosed by iron railings with spear finials.

This building is part of a group that includes Nos 36 to 64 (even) and Nos 70 to 74 (even), along with Nos 83, 85, and 91 to 101 (odd).
