Description
No. 50 Tarrant Street is a late 18th-century building constructed of red brick, with a north elevation featuring nodular flint and red brick dressings. It has a pitched slate roof and red brick chimneys. The building stands three storeys tall and is adorned with a brick modillion eaves cornice. On the first and second floors, there are three segment-headed flush-framed double-hung sash windows with glazing bars. The ground floor includes a canted bay shopfront at the west end, which has plate glass windows and a coved cornice. Below this is a casement window with glazing bars and a protective iron grille for the cellar. There are two four-panelled doors, one partly glazed and the other with moulded panels and a hand/wreath knocker. Both doors are set in moulded surrounds with dentilled pediments above, supported by three wooden consoles. An open trabeated carriage entrance is located at the east end of the building. This property is part of a group that includes Nos. 36 to 64 (even) and Nos. 70 to 74 (even), along with Nos. 83, 85, and 91 to 101 (odd).
