Description
64 Tarrant Street is a late 18th-century brick building with a stuccoed south elevation and a hipped tile roof. It features a red brick chimney and stands two storeys high with attics. The building has a brick modillion eaves cornice and a single window range. On the first floor, there are double-hung sash windows with glazing bars, while the ground floor showcases a canted oriel window supported by consoles, which contains three double-hung sashes separated by pilasters. A horizontally sliding sash window is present in the cellar. Access is provided by a six-panelled door set in panelled reveals, which is reached by four limestone steps. The door is complemented by an Arts-and-Crafts style bootscraper, a mid-19th century rococo iron knocker, and a doorcase adorned with pilasters, capitals, a frieze featuring incised line decoration, and a pediment above. An attic dormer with a casement window completes the design. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 36 to 64 (even) and Nos 70 to 74 (even), along with Nos 83, 85, and 91 to 101 (odd).
