Description
Clare Cottage is a cottage dating from the late 16th or 17th century, with 19th and 20th-century extensions added to the rear. It features a timber frame, with a whitewashed brick base and brick infill in square panels above, some of which are rendered. The building has a parallel range of plain-tiled roofs, with tile-hung gable ends that extend in an outshot to the rear.
The cottage is two storeys high and includes a diagonal brace on the first floor to the right. There is a central stack located at the rear of the front ridge, with an additional stack at the rear left. On the first floor, there are two diamond-pane windows, and two more windows are situated below them under drip boards. The central entrance door is flanked by brick dentils over the ground floor of the left-hand return front. Each gable has one window on the first floor.
