Description
The store shed, located to the rear right of Hillhouse Farmhouse, dates from the 18th century and has been altered. It is timber framed with weatherboard cladding and features a plinth made of red brick in Flemish bond, including some blue headers. The roof is covered with plain tiles. The shed is a single storey and consists of three bays, with the southern bay separated by a partition of vertical planks. There is a door located in the north gable and another on the west side to the right. Additionally, there is a hatch with a board shutter on the east side. The south gable wall is primarily constructed of pink brick, with a small section made of coursed galleted rubblestone. Inside, the timber frame includes close-set studs and raking braces. The roof features raking queen-post trusses on tie-beams, clasped through purlins, coupled rafters, and raking wind braces. This shed is an unusual example of an 18th-century agricultural store shed and is an integral part of the farmyard.
