Description
The barn located to the rear right of Hillhouse Farm House is an 18th-century structure with 19th-century alterations. It is timber framed and sits on a brick plinth, featuring weatherboard cladding and a plain tiled roof. The barn consists of three framed bays and has central opposed cart entries. On the west front, there is a stable door to the right, with a former window aligned in the rear wall. The framing includes close-set studs, wall-posts with braces extending down to the mid-rail, and large curved braces reaching up to the tie-beams. The restored roof features raking queen posts, clasped through purlins, long struts and braces, and a collar at the central truss. The end bays were floored in the late 19th century.
