Description

Artington Cottage is a cottage that dates from the late 16th century, with extensions added in the 19th and 20th centuries at the rear. The building is timber-framed, with the rear exposed and whitewashed brick infilling. The front features whitewashed brick and render cladding, while the roughcast extensions are located at the rear. The roof is plain tiled and has ridge cresting. The cottage stands two storeys high on a plinth, with a brick plat band beneath the ground floor at the front. There is a ridge stack positioned to the left of the center. The structure has four framed bays, an extension on the right end, and features four wood-framed, diamond-pane, leaded casement windows on the first floor, with three below and one in the extension to the right. A ribbed door is located to the left in a shallow recess. At the rear, the frame is exposed in the center, showing first floor bracing, and there are pentice roof extensions at the ends.
