Description

Lion Gate Court, formerly known as Fowl House Farm, is a house that incorporates a former granary. It has a core dating back to the 16th century, with extensions made in the 17th century and further additions in the 19th century. The granary was incorporated into the structure in 1980. The building features a timber frame set on a brick and stone plinth, with brick infill below, some of which is arranged in a herringbone pattern on the left side, and colourwashed render infill above. The roofs are plain tiled and hipped over the granary.

The house is two storeys tall and consists of five framed bays, with a gable end facing the street. The granary forms a return wing. There are three diagonal 17th-century cross ridge stacks located to the left of the center, along with additional stacks at the rear. The first floor has two leaded windows from the 20th century, while the ground floor features three windows. The granary section has two windows on the first floor and one on the ground floor. A door is located at the re-entrant angle within a 20th-century porch recess created when the two ranges were joined.

On the right-hand return end, there is a jettied gable with a moulded bressumer supported by Jacobean-style decorated brackets. An oriel window is present on the first floor, and there is a planked door on the ground floor. A brick and tile-hung pentice is located to the right.
