Description

The Star Public House is a building that originally served as a house and has been extended to function as a public house. The structure dates from the 17th century at the rear and the 18th century at the front. It is constructed of sandstone with brick dressings at the rear, while the front is covered in whitewashed roughcast. The roofs are plain tiled, with a half-hipped design on the left and the rear roof extending over the front.

The building has a T-plan layout and stands two storeys tall, featuring end stacks on the front range and a ridge stack at the center of the rear range. The front left has brick dentil eaves, and there are four 2-light windows from the 20th century on the first floor, along with four casement windows on the ground floor, all set beneath tile-on-edge lintels. There are half-glazed doors located to the left and right of the center, with a panelled and part-glazed door to the right.

An extension is set back and canted to the left end, and there are single-storey extensions to the right. The rear wing has brick-dressed casement windows, with two windows on each floor, and features a pentice roof, a brick porch, and a half-glazed door.
