Description

The Coach and Horses Public House is a public house dating from the 17th century or early 18th century, with extensions and alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed of red brick, possibly timber framed, and is whitewashed and rendered. The building features a hipped tiled roof and has a three-window front, standing two storeys high with an attic. The ground floor has a projecting section added in the 20th century, with the entrance located to the left and a canted bay. On the ground floor, there is a cross-glazed casement window on the left with a segmental head. The building has a plinth and a plat band that steps up to the left of the centre above the original entrance. The first floor contains three cross-glazed casement windows, and there are bracketed eaves that have been added. There are also two hipped dormers with two lights each. An original external stack is located at the left end, featuring a plat band that continues, offsets, and a relieving arch in the shaft. The right return has one window with a 20th-century addition to the rear right. At the rear, there is a central external stack with an offset and a recessed panel in the shaft, along with a two-light casement and one hipped dormer. There are flat-roofed additions at the rear that are of no special interest. Inside, the ground floor has a stop-chamfered binding beam, while the first floor has not been inspected.
