Description

Providence Hall is a house dating back to the 16th century, with later developments in the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries, and alterations in the 20th. It is timber framed and largely brick-cased, with tiled roofs. Originally, the house comprised a 2-bay open hall. The building is two storeys with an attic. It has a plinth, and the entrance is located to the left of the centre. There is a segmental-headed casement window to the left and a 2-light casement window to the right of the entrance. Two attic windows are visible with roughcast gabled dormers. The left return shows exposed timber framing, featuring queen posts connecting to collar purlins. An external stack on the right return is constructed of 17th-century red brick, and includes an offset and an oven towards the rear. A 20th-century entrance porch has been added to the right front. A catslide roof covers a lean-to outshut to the rear right. A lower gabled addition is located to the left, also with a stack. The interior has not been inspected.
