Description

Warren Cottage and Lovatts Cottage are a pair of houses, probably dating from the mid to late 17th century, and altered in the 19th century with 20th-century extensions. The houses are timber-framed, with part of the frame exposed. They are rendered and roughcast, with a hipped tiled roof. Originally, the houses had a three-bay lobby entrance. They are one storey and attic in height. The original central entrance to Warren Cottage, on the left, has been blocked, but the lintel and jambs remain visible, displaying posts, rail, studs, and a tension brace. There are two ground floor, three-light casement windows on the front, each with pointed heads to the lights and leaded panes. Two three-light hipped dormers are also present. The central ridge stack was rebuilt in the 19th century. The left return has exposed timber framing, along with a later gabled hood over the entrance, a two-light casement window, and a hipped dormer. A full-height roughcast extension is located to the rear left. The right return features a full-height, 20th-century projecting entrance porch. There are 20th-century additions to the rear of the property. The interior has not been inspected.
