Description

Gallopers Cottage is a house that dates from the 17th century or earlier, with extensions and alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The structure features a timber frame with colourwashed brick casing and extensions, while the left end is rendered. It has a tiled roof and was originally composed of 2 or 3 bays, now extended to 5 bays. The building is 1 storey with an attic. A two-storey gabled entrance porch has been added to the left bay, which features a three-light casement window with leaded panes above the door, protected by a timber hood. The ground floor to the right has been extended forward and includes three three-light casements. The attic has been converted into a continuous dormer with four casements. A large external stack from the 17th century is located on the left end and features offsets, while ridge stacks are positioned to the right of centre. The right end of the cottage has been altered in the 20th century. At the rear, there are scattered doors and casements, dentilled brick eaves, and one gabled dormer. The interior has not been inspected.
