Description

Crossley Wylde is a house that dates from the 17th century, possibly earlier, and has been altered and extended in the 19th and early 20th centuries. The core of the building is likely timber-framed, which has been cased and extended in red brick, with some areas roughcast and tile-hung. The house has a tiled roof and originally consisted of three or four bays, with two storeys.

On the left bay of the original house, there is a 20th-century two-storey gabled entrance porch. The ground floor features two and three-light casement windows, while the first floor has five-light casement windows with leaded panes. The right return, which is roughcast, has an external stack with offsets that has been rebuilt in stock brick. There is also a ridge stack at the original left end, which was probably external originally and has had its cap rebuilt.

To the left, there is a two-storey and attic 20th-century addition with a gable front, along with a 20th-century wing at the rear. The garden elevation, which is multi-gabled, has an entirely early 20th-century appearance. An attached brick and weatherboarded outbuilding on the left is now used as stables. Inside, the ground floor features a panelled dining room with a stop-chamfered binding beam, while the first floor has not been inspected.
