Description
Blagdon House is a house built around 1830, featuring colourwashed stucco and low pitched, hipped slate roofs. It has two storeys, with a diagonal stack at the right end and additional stacks at the rear. The symmetrical front has block rustication on the ground floor and a plat band above. There are pedimented bays at each end, with a narrow central bay that slightly recedes. Each pedimented bay on the first floor has a twelve-pane glazing bar sash window, and there is a similar window in the centre. The ground floor outer bays have stripped "Venetian" windows. The central entrance door consists of six fielded panels and is set within an oval porch or portico that is half recessed. This porch is flanked by two Doric columns with noticeable entasis and pilaster responds. Arched niches are present in the side walls. The left-hand return front features a circular bay, and there is a parallel range at the rear. Inside, some cornices and fireplaces remain.
