Description

The Square is a cottage dating to the 16th century. The left-hand portion is timber-framed on a sandstone plinth, with exposed timber above and whitewashed rendered infill under plain tiled roofs, which step up and were restored in the 20th century to the right. It has one storey and an attic with two gabled dormers with leaded casements to the left, and two stories to the right, also with two dormers under the eaves. A ridge stack is located to the right of the centre. The left side has three framed bays with tension bracing and three leaded casements to the ground floor. There is a blocked 17th-century mullioned window to the first floor, and a single ground floor window to the right. A 20th-century ribbed door is located on the ground floor to the left.
