Description

Old Hurst is a house dating back to the 17th century, with extensions added in the 20th century. The house is timber-framed, with exposed, thin timbers to the left and brick infill. The central section is constructed of galleted sandstone rubble with brick dressings, while the right side is brick-clad. A plain tiled roof covers the structure.

The house has two storeys and features gabled cross wings at each end. An offset front stack is located to the right, with two diagonal stacks on a plinth at the left end. The front of the house is at a right angle to the street; the left-hand cross wing has a jettied gable featuring one three-light leaded casement window on each floor, and a single three-light window to the first floor of the right-hand wing. The central section has three “cross” windows on the first floor, with two ground floor windows below. A door is situated to the right of centre, within a gabled porch.
