Description
The Old House is a late 16th-century house located on Portsmouth Road in Witley. It features a timber frame that is underbuilt in whitewashed brick on a rendered plinth, with whitewashed brick and rendered infilling above. The house has plain tiled roofs, hipped over the rear range, and an L-shaped plan with a gabled wing that projects to the front.
The building is two storeys high and has a stack on the rear range at the junction with the two framed bay wing. Notable architectural details include ogee bracing on the gable end of the wing and a tile pentice course over the ground floor. The first floor has one four-light diamond pane leaded window, while the ground floor features one three-light plain casement window. There is one window on each floor of the right-hand return front of the wing and one window on each floor of the rear range to the right. A stable-style door is located to the left in the angle of the two ranges.
There is a garage extension to the front right and a whitewashed brick garage range set back to the left, which is not of special interest.
