Description

Lower Farm House is a building with a complex history, dating from the 16th century to the early 19th century. The core of the house is timber framed and located at the rear, with whitewashed brick cladding. An 17th-century granary was added to the front left, and an early 19th-century wing extends to the right. The roof is tiled, hipped over the granary to the left, with a central ridge stack on the right-hand wing and a stack to the rear left. The house is two storeys high, with brick dentilled eaves to the left and a gablefront bay to the right. The first floor has two windows, the right-hand one set beneath a pointed arch. The ground floor includes a two-light window in a slate-roofed angle bay. An arched, part-glazed door is positioned centrally, sheltered by a flat-roofed porch supported on wooden piers. Inside, some timber framing is visible in the ground floor rooms at the rear, primarily on the ceilings.
