Description

The Cottage at Weston Lodge is a granary that has been converted into a house. It dates from the 18th century and was extended to the east and converted into a house in the 19th century. The building features a chequered pattern of red and blue brick for the granary, with a timber frame extension that has a white weatherboarded front and a dark weatherboarded end, while the rear wall is cased in red brick. The roofs are steep and covered with old red tiles, pyramidal on the granary, topped with a wrought iron vane.

The granary is two stories tall and square in shape, with two segmental arched low openings on each side at the base, an offset plinth, a plat-band, and a boarded soffit beneath the projecting roof with bellcast eaves. The conversion introduced a projecting chimney with two flues on the north side and a single-storey east wing that consists of two cells with an internal chimney. There is an entrance under a porch on the south side, with a window to the right and two rear windows. Additionally, there is a small lean-to extension at the east end. The south side of the granary has one window on each floor, with a cambered arch on the ground floor, and both floors feature two-light casement windows.
