Description
Old Bellows is a house dating from the early 18th century, with extensions added to both ends in the 19th century and later in the 20th century. The building features an exposed timber frame with plastered infill on the first floor of the oldest section, painted brick on the northern part, and roughcast on other areas. It has a steep old red tile roof and is a long, two-storey house that was originally oriented to face west but is now entered from the rear.
The oldest part of the house consists of three cells separated by narrow bays for the chimney and entrance/staircase. It has small pane, three-light casement windows, and the entrance has been converted into a window. There is a small chimney on the rear wall of the northern room in the three-cell section. The central hall is heated by an internal chimney with a fireplace at the southern end, and a staircase rises from the northeast corner of this hall. There was formerly a cellar beneath the northern room, which may have served as a parlour. The interior features chamfered axial beams.
