Description

This is an early 18th-century building with a timber-frame core. It is two storeys and has an attic. The front facade is brick, set on a chamfered plinth, and features strings at the first floor level and over the first-floor windows. A moulded wooden cornice sits above, and the roof is tiled with leaded, hipped dormer casements containing two lights each. The building has five windows with architrave frames on the first floor, and four similar windows with red rubbed arches on the ground floor. A six-panelled door is situated in a recessed panelled surround, with a doorcase featuring reeded pilasters, an entablature that breaks forward over the pilasters, and a pediment. There is one step leading to the front door. The building is part of a group of listed buildings on the east side of Castle Street.
