Description

46 Castle Street is a 18th-century building that may have a timber-framed core. It is two storeys high and features chequered brick on a projecting plinth. There are string courses above the ground and first floor windows, and a tall panelled parapet. The building has two windows with architrave frames, and the first floor windows are set in segmental brick arches. In the center, there is a 17th-century ledged oak door, which is likely an insertion, with a flat moulded hood supported by heavy cut brackets. There is a modern iron dog gate, and a secondary entry on the right side, which is a plain door that belongs to number 47. All the listed buildings on the east side of Castle Street form a group.
