Description
Nelson's Arms Public House is an 18th-century building located on Castle Street. It is two storeys high and features a colour-washed pebble dash exterior with an old tile roof that is hipped to the right. The first floor has three early 19th-century windows. On the ground floor, there is a modern bay window to the left, two other modern 6-light leaded windows, a double half-glazed door to the left of centre, and a secondary half-glazed double door in the right-hand corner, which has a flat hood supported by cut brackets. The side of the building facing Park Row has two irregular windows. The rear of the building has four small tile-hung gables over colour-washed brick walls, with irregular doors and windows. The public house was formerly two cottages located behind it on Park Row, which have since been converted to public conveniences. These cottages were originally listed with the Nelson's Arms Public House but are now listed separately under Park Row. All the listed buildings on the east side of Castle Street form a group.
