Description
66 Castle Street is a late 18th-century, two-storey building made of red brick, set on a chamfered plinth. It features string courses above the ground and first-floor windows, with a lower string that is interrupted to accommodate the doorcase. The building has a panelled brick parapet topped with stone coping and an old tiled roof. There are two large windows on the front, each four panes wide, with red rubbed arches above them. A square central panel is located on the first floor. The ground floor has a five-panel central door within a moulded frame, featuring a doorcase supported by pilasters. The cap moulding extends across the doorhead, with small cut console brackets and a plain frieze in between, topped by a delicate shallow cornice and pediment. There is one moulded stone step leading up to the door. All the listed buildings on the east side of Castle Street are part of a group.
