Description

This is a mid-18th century house that has been altered over time. It is three storeys high and originally built of red brick, now rendered. It features chamfered quoins and horizontal bands between the storeys. The elaborate entablature has fluted scroll brackets on the frieze, a cornice, and a dentil bed mould that projects forward over each bracket. There are three windows on the second floor, with recessed sash windows retaining their original glazing bars, each with a flat arch and keystone. One sash window remains on the first floor, alongside a 19th-century canted bay window to the left. The ground floor originally had a 19th-century shop front and rusticated, Doric-pilastered doorways, but these have been replaced by a modern shop front. The building forms part of a group of listed buildings on the east side of Queen Street.
