Description
Peat Farm Cottage is a cottage dating from the late 16th century, which was extended and re-roofed in the 19th century. It features a timber frame that is exposed, with cement render infill on the left side and the first floor on the right. The ground floor on the right is constructed of rough coursed, galleted Bargate rubble with brick dressings, which was once colourwashed. The roof is hipped and covered with plain tiles, with a catslide over the outshot at the rear. The cottage is built at right angles to the street and has two storeys with a central ridge stack. On the left side, there is one framed bay with arched bracing on the first floor, while the right side has two framed bays of thin scantling. The windows are irregularly placed casements, with three on the first floor and three below, including one in a pentice on the left. There is a plank door at the right end, located under an open pentice hood supported by wooden brackets.
