Description

Chennells and Cottage Adjoining is a house that has been divided, dating from the 17th century, possibly around an earlier core, and has been extended and restored in the 20th century. The building features a timber frame that is exposed on the ground floor with brick infilling, while the upper part is tile hung, with the upper courses scalloped and the lower courses swept out. The main range has a plain tiled half-hipped roof, and the cross wing to the right has a hipped roof with a gablet. The house is two storeys high and includes a 20th-century square corbelled stack to the left, an offset side stack to the right in the cross wing, and additional stacks at the rear.

On the first floor to the left, there are three leaded, wood-framed, 20th-century casement windows, and below them, there are four windows. A ribbed door is located to the left, beneath the stack (Chennells). The end of the cross wing has one 3-light leaded window on each floor, while the return wall of the wing features one first-floor window and two ground-floor windows, including one angle bay window. There is a door in a 20th-century hipped roof brick porch situated in the re-entrant angle between the ranges. To the right, there are 20th-century tile hung and brick extensions.
