Description

The Hunt Gallery is a house that has been converted into commercial premises, dating from the early 19th century with some alterations. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and has a concealed Welsh slate roof. The building stands four storeys high and features two bays. The late 19th to early 20th century shop front includes a recessed central entrance with a tessellated pavement, a moulded plaster ceiling, and a half-glazed door set in a dentilled architrave on the left. The shop windows are flanked by slender columns and have a continuous frieze with roundels and slitted sections. At the sides, there are later polished stone pilasters topped with old wooden decorated brackets that have iron finials, which support a corniced fascia.

On the upper floors, the windows are set in reveals and feature flat brick arches and projecting sills. The first and second floors have sash windows with glazing bars, while the third floor has unequally-hung nine-pane sashes. The building is finished with an eaves band, a cornice, and a parapet, and there is a broad stack on the left side.
