Description

1099 DOWNING STREET (East Side) Nos 51, 5lA, 52 (including rear Bridge) SU 8346 NE 5/70 SU 8346 NW 6/70 II GV 2. Late Cl8 front. 2 storey. Brick. Old tile roof. 3 windows, 4 panes wide, on 1st floor. No 51 has small early Cl9, 3-light shop window with half-glazed door, all framed with pilasters and entablature. No 52 has a similar shop, larger and altered, of 2 windows and half-glazed door to right hand of centre. No 51A is part of the rear range. Late Cl8 to Cl9. Brick. 2 windows above; 3 .windows below. Sash windows at right hand end, some glazing bars missing. 2-1ight casements to left hand, lower one segmental headed. Segmental headed doorway wooden boarded door. Further east again, a pare11el wing in recession; western part also in domestic use with front wall of church; eastern part has front wall of ironstone; roof lower at east end.

All the listed buildings on the East Side from 44 to 57A form a group. Nos 50, 51, 51A and 52 and range of outbuildings in north-east corner of yard (yard lies between Nos 51 and 51A) form a smaller group within the main street group.
