Description
46 and 47 Downing Street are a pair of late 18th-century houses that stand three stories tall and are constructed of brick. They feature a small moulded wood cornice supported by cut brackets and have a hipped roof covered with old tiles. The second floor has five square windows, with two of them being alternate false windows. The first floor has five windows as well, with the center window being false. On the ground floor, there are two small modern shop windows designed in a 19th-century style, arranged symmetrically. In the center, there is a pair of six-panel doors framed by three engaged Doric columns, with a cap moulding extending across the door head. Above the doors, there is a segmental arched fanlight made of wrought iron, featuring a radiating and wreathed pattern enriched with scroll work. The buildings are part of a group with the other listed buildings on the east side from Nos 44 to A.
