Description

57 and 57A Downing Street is an 18th-century, two-storey building constructed of colour-washed brick, with the two left-hand bays finished in stucco. It features an old tile roof and has three first-floor windows with architrave frames. The central ground-floor window is similar, flanked by two modern shop fronts. This building is part of a group with Nos 53 to 56, sharing historical significance. At the back, there is an outbuilding with a north wall made of clunch and brick dentil eaves, along with brick quoins and a brick lacing course. All the listed buildings on the east side from Nos 44 to 57A form a cohesive group.
