Description
Sussex Cottage is a 17th-century house located on the east side of Petworth Road in Chiddingfold. The house has a timber frame, originally on a rendered plinth, but now encased in brick and galleted sandstone and whitewashed. The roof is half-hipped and covered in plain tiles, with end stacks at the rear. The two storeys are divided by a brick band. The first floor has two C19 casement windows, and the central part has a glazed door. On the right return front are two wooden ovolo mullioned windows. A tile-hung wing extends to the rear. Internally, a section of the original timber-framed rear wall remains within the kitchen. A single-storey shop front on the left is not part of the listed building.
