Description
The Crown Inn is a restaurant located in Chiddingfold, dating back to the 14th century, with restorations made in the 20th century. The building features a timber frame with rendered infill and has a plain tile roof with a stack positioned to the left of the center. It is designed in a six-bay Wealden style, with a central two-bay hall and jettied cross wings supported by dragon beams. The inn has two storeys and includes wood mullion windows with arched heads and leaded lights, as well as an arched plank door at the left end of the hall. To the left, there is a single-storey catslide extension, and at the back, a two-storey single bay extension. Inside, the timber frame is visible, and there are deep brick fireplaces. The Crown Inn is a significant part of the group of buildings surrounding the village green.
