Description
Little Staplehurst is a house dating from the late 16th century to early 17th century. It features a timber frame set on a rendered plinth, with whitewashed rubblestone cladding on the ground floor to the right and stock brick dressings. The exposed frame on the remainder has whitewashed brick infill. The first floor has a tile-hung gable on the left side, and the roof is plain tiled with a half-hip and a rear ridge stack positioned to the left of center. The house is two storeys high and consists of four framed bays, with four 19th-century casement windows on the first floor. There is a planked door located in a gabled porch of a "rustic" style to the left of center. On the right-hand return front, there is a weatherboard half-hip outshot across the rear and a catslide outshot from the 20th century at the right end.
Inside, the frame is visible, featuring stop-chamfered joists and a main beam, along with a deep brick fireplace. There are stone posts supporting a deep chimney in the ground floor room to the right.
