Description

Woodlands Farmhouse is a mid-16th century, four-bay central smoke bay house. It is timber-framed with square framing and painted brick infilling, and has a tiled roof with an early 17th century chimneystack. There are three casement windows. A later gabled weather porch has been added. A stair turret is located in a rear outshot. One diamond mullioned window remains on the back wall. The upright posts have jowls. Domestic Buildings Research Group Report No 138 and Joan M Harding's "Four Centuries of Charlwood Houses" (page 90) provide further details.
