Description

Hookwood Cottage is an early 17th century central chimney house with an additional chimney for the service end. It is two storeys high and features timber framing with square framing and painted brick infilling. The roof is tiled, and there are three casement windows. A weatherboarded lean-to is present, and a bread oven extends into the garden, as the stair ladder was located in the central chimney bay. For further details, see Joan M Harding's "Four Centuries of Charlwood Houses" on page 53.
