Description
Westlands is a mid-16th century, three-bay end smoke bay house that features a 17th-century chimney and a parlour bay, along with a modern gabled L-shaped wing added to the west. The building is two storeys high and constructed with timber framing and plaster infilling. The original section includes diagonal braces, while the 17th-century addition has square framing. It has a half-hipped tiled roof and three casement windows, along with a simple doorcase. The smoke bay remains intact, showcasing soot-encrusted rafters, wind braces, and wattle and daub partitions. The parlour bay includes attic storage accessible from the first floor via an outside door and then by a ladder inside the disused smoke bay. The attic room features a sliding shutter groove for the window in the half-hipped end.
