Description

Oaklands Park Farm House is a hall house dating from the early 16th century, with 20th-century extensions now forming the front. The original structure is timber framed with whitewashed brick infilling, while the extensions are constructed of whitewashed brick and tile hanging, topped with plain tiled roofs, including a hipped roof with gablets over the original range. The house now has a T-shaped plan set at right angles to the lane. It is two storeys high and comprises four framed bays, featuring an inserted stack on the rear ridge, slightly left of centre. The ends of the original range incorporate jowled posts, and arched bracing is visible on the first floor. A hipped extension in the centre now serves as the entrance, containing one diamond-pane window on the first floor and one at ground level. A door is located to the right. Two diamond-pane windows are positioned either side of the first floor on the original range, on each floor. Further extensions include a single-storey brick addition to the rear left, and a pentice extension to the rear.
