Description

Chaffolds Farm House is a house dating from the 16th century, with a 17th century cross wing and 20th century extensions. It has a timber frame, with the ground floor of the cross wing clad in whitewashed brick and tile hung above. The front and left sides are also clad in whitewashed brick. The frame is exposed on the right-hand return front and rear right, with brick infill. The roof is plain tiled, hipped to the left, and features a gabled Horsham slab roof on the cross wing. The building has a T-shape plan with the cross wing to the right.

It is two storeys high, with a rebuilt stack located to the right of centre at the junction of the ranges, and a gable-lit attic in the rear of the cross wing. The windows are metal casements from the 1950s, with three on the first floor. There is one large window on the ground floor to the left and one diamond-pane window to the left of centre. The ground floor of the wing has one metal casement window. The door is located to the right of centre under the stack in a shallow break.

On the left-hand return front, the first floor frame is exposed, featuring jowled posts and arched bracing, with a pentice at the rear left. The right-hand return front has one window on each floor to the left, with the frame exposed. There is a gabled Horsham slab roofed stair-vice to the right, which has thin 18th century bracing and frame.
