Description
Old Hatch Farm House is a house dating from the mid-16th century, with a 17th-century cross wing and later extensions in the late 19th and 20th centuries. It's constructed of timber framing, with some parts exposed and filled with brick, and red brick to the centre, with blue and red brick to the left. The main house has a Horsham slab roof, while the extensions have plain tiled roofs. The house is arranged in a âTâ shape, featuring a cross wing to the left and a parallel, projecting wing to the left end.
The house is two storeys high. A prominent square ridge stack with two arched panels on the north and south sides and one arched panel on the east and west sides stands at the junction of the cross wing. A similar square stack with two panels is located at the centre. Diagonal stacks on an offset sandstone plinth are present at the right end. A gabled extension to the left has a 3-light leaded casement window on each floor. The cross wing has a jowled post and two first-floor casements above a 4-light ground-floor window. Four leaded casements are on the first floor to the centre and left, with two to the centre under 3-light eaves-gabled dormers. Four windows are on the ground floor. A gabled porch with a 20th-century ribbed door is located to the left of the centre.
Inside, substantial timber framing is visible, along with a crown post roof to the main range and a queen strut roof to the cross wing.
